Weld from Moss was founded in 1992. The band is best known for its vocalist Vibeke Saugestad 's characteristic voice and for "Crown Imperial Song", the band's first and biggest hit. The band released two albums, Natural Tools in 1994 which earned them the Spellemannprisen 1994 as Newcomer of the Year, and Hello Walls in 1995. The band disbanded shortly after the release of the second album. In addition to Saugestad, the band consisted of Stig Jøraholmen on bass, Rune B. Johnsen on drums and Jørn Johansen on guitar. The album was recorded in a beautiful house right on the beach just outside the center of Åsgårdstrand, one August 1995 without rain, only sun. The band rented the summer house from an actress and a huge silver platter became an excellent percussion instrument. And the crashing waves on the opening and closing tracks (a song split in two) are real, recorded late evening/night on the beach.
