VØMÒL SPELLMANNSLGRUP - VØMÒL MUNICIPALITY
The folk rock group Vømmøl Spellmannslag was the first band in Norwegian rock history to release an album in dialect in 1974 with "Vømmøl'n" - and at the same time invented a new instrument, the Lurken. It has now been 50 years since Vømmøl Spellmannslag conquered Norway with their funny and sometimes socially critical songs.

Vømmøl Spellmannslag were only active live for two years in the 1970s. Nevertheless, the group has left a deep mark. In the midst of an era dominated by English pop, Vømmøl conquered the country with songs about workers' struggles, oppression and strikes, performed in the broadest dialect. The group showed the audience how good Norwegian music could be, while at the same time reminding people that our welfare society also has its dark sides.

-Vømmøl has become a term, synonymous with catchy folk/rock songs with great impact and a strong commitment to the fight against injustice and oppression - and Vømmøl stands just as strong today, 50 years later. The man behind all the songs, Hans Rotmo, believes that much of the reason why Vømmøl has survived is the conscious use of humor. As he himself says: "Vømmøl gives people the power to fight, fight with humor."

At Vømmøl Municipality, players:
