Description

Vibeke Saugestad lived in Fredrikstad until her family moved to Moss when she was four years old. Here, as a teenager, she started the band Avslørte bondepiker before she was discovered by the rock band Weld, where she became a vocalist at the age of 16. The band's first single "Crown Imperial Song", which was released in 1993, became a big hit, largely thanks to Saugestad 's dark and distinctive voice. The band released two albums on EMI, where they received the Spellemannprisen 1994 as newcomer of the year for the first, before it disbanded. Saugestad then released albums with two new band projects, first the noise trio Thelyblast together with brothers Svein and Jørgen Lauritzen who released the album Cloud 9 in 1998, and then Thinkerbell with guitarist Jørn Christensen who released the album Thinkerbell in 1999 and Thinkerbell II in 2011. After this, she debuted as a solo artist with her first own album Into The Shimmering in 2001 and later Overdrive in 2003. This is what Herreavdelingen wrote about the album: "Vibeke has borrowed from everyone we like, but especially from old garage rock, Sweet, old Status Quo, T.Rex, Slade, Ramones... in short: everything that is rock hard! At the same time, she puts her own mark on it, without pretending to be trying to reinvent the wheel."
