Description

The Loch Ness Mouse was started by songwriter brothers Jørn and Ole Johannes Åleskjær from Skulerud in Aurskog-Høland in 1992. They were initially inspired by flimsy British guitar indie and post-punk, and released their debut EP From The Countryside on the Perfect Pop label in 1992 and later the debut album Darjeeling's flair in 1999 at the same place. Early members included siblings Emil and Hilma Nikolaisen. Over time, the band developed a lot musically and incorporated elements of soul, and eventually jazz, into their pop music. Two of the early albums were nominated for the Alarm Prize for Pop Album of the Year in Norway. On Graffiti The band had grown to seven members, including vocalist Christina Høgetveit. On this album, the group also had guest appearances with, among others, soul singer Myrna Braza and rapper Stella Mwangi. The record was produced by Ruben Dalen and Ole Johannes Åleskjær and the 6-ers on the dice were hailed. The record is inspired by R&B, soul and modal jazz. After Graffiti returned The Loch Ness Mouse in some ways to the more clean-lined, 80s-inspired pop music again, signed with Japanese P-Vine, and released an album trilogy that is completed with the album III this fall, which also marks the band's 30th anniversary.
