Description
Oslo band The Last James started around 1990 by Lars Pedersen (vocals and various instruments), synonymous with When , and previously featured in, among others, Hærverk, PullOut and Holy Toy , and Rune Nilsen (vocals and various instruments). The two had known each other since their teens, and Last James arose from a desire to do something with song sketches the two had made together at that time. Last James' starting point was melodic pop music, inspired by 60s bands like the Beach Boys. In 1993, the band adopted the prefix The, and also appeared as a trio – Nilsen was out – Haakon Ellingsen and Lars Lillo-Stenberg in, along with Pedersen. There were three men, three songwriters and three vocalists with equal parts singing and singing on the album The Last James, which came out in 1993.
