Description

Flekkefjord band Stuntbike , fronted by Truls Haugland, first released a handful of seven-inch singles that earned them recognition in both the Norwegian and international pop underground. Their debut album Gone was released on the local label Smalltown Supersound in 1998, and was recorded and produced by Ole Petter Andreassen (later known from Black Debbath). The press here in Norway was quick to draw parallels to foreign bands such as Sebadoh and Sonic Youth, as well as "stuerene" names such as Foo Fighters and Nirvana. Stuntbike is a band where "understatement" is important, the songs are not punched in with big facts and screaming vocals, but sneak up on you in all their subtlety. Songs like "Smile" and "Gone" are nice pop songs, while the sad "Alone" has a fragility and honesty that is rare in Norwegian pop.
