Description

Strong Naked and the Car Thieves (also known as SNoB ) is an Oslo-based band founded in 1984 by Leif Helgeland and Jan Lier. The band has had a number of members since its inception. The band's name is directly transferred from the American group Stark Naked and the Car Thieves, of which Doug Ingle from Iron Butterfly was a member. SNoB had their breakthrough with the song "Sommerlykke" in 1989. The song was refused to be played on NRK, mostly because of the lyric "I have nothing on, I have a really hard time standing". A special characteristic of SNoB are the lyrics, which are characterized by both whimsicality and at times quite explicit language. The songs, which are spoken-sung by vocalist Helgeland, deal with both classic pop music themes, especially love themes, although often with an original twist, and more original themes. The band's latest release so far is the album Brenn lille venn (2000) which has never been released on vinyl. Until now.
