Stephen Ackles (born 15 February 1966) is a Norwegian/American singer, pianist, songwriter and actor who mainly plays rock 'n roll inspired by Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley and more. He has a Norwegian mother (Bergliot Kittilsen) and an American father (Allan Dale Ackles). Ackles has worked and shared the stage with Elton John, Carl Perkins, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Bjørn Sigurd Henriksen, Kris Kristofferson, Little Richard, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Lee Lewis, Linda Gail Lewis, James Burton and Narvel Felts. Ackles is regarded as one of Norway's greatest piano entertainers of all time and he has toured Europe on several occasions, including in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England and Denmark, as well as the USA and Asia. Ackle's musical career began at the age of 14 by winning a talent contest. In 1982 he formed his first band, The Silly Dream. Throughout the first half of the 1980s he toured with the Memory Band. In 1986, he collaborated with vocalist Paal Flaata of the Midnight Choir, in Memphis News, and this resulted in his first LP recording. The record was nominated for the Spellemann prize in the category for country. In 1990, he was voted best Norwegian country artist. There were also nominations for the Spellemann Prize in 1991 and 1993. These CDs have been praised in the press at home and abroad. Stephen Ackles and The Memphis News was released in 1988. This is his debut album as a solo artist.
