SIREN STONE // HOLE IN THE WALL - HOLE IN THE WALL

Band started in Bergen in 1971 by Erik Møll/Moll and Rune Walle. Pioneers in what is now called roots, Americana or country rock. The members of the group playing on the disc numbered eight, they mastered a wealth of instruments; guitars, dobro, mandolin, fiddle, cello, bass, percussion, accordion, piano - unusual combinations of instruments in the popular music of the time. Beautiful harmonic singing, with the soprano on top. The group existed with different line-ups in three versions, from 1971 to 1984. They released two LPs. It is the first album with cult status that applies here.

Siren Steen (b. 1948), retired music librarian, was head of the music department and the Grieg collection at Bergen public library. Co-editor of the Norwegian pop and rock encyclopedia, member of the Spellemannjury and of the Purchase scheme for music in the Norwegian Cultural Council. Part of the working group Institute for Norwegian Popular Music, which paved the way for Rockheim. Absolutely present in the time and environment described.
