ROY SØBSTAD // ERLEND ROPSTAD – BRENN SISTE BREVET
This is the story of how an artist from Vennesla added some badly needed Swedish attitude to Norwegian rock. With his first six albums, Erlend Ropstad had established himself as a singer-songwriter with melodic flair and poetic nerve. On «Brenn siste brevet» he also turned up the guitars. Suddenly it became more natural to compare him with Swedish rock giants such as Thåström and Lars Winnerbäck than anything we had in this country. "Brenn siste brevet" contains modern classics such as "Exit the Dragon", "Natta som er over nå" and "Menneske, kjære menneske", and in 2019 was named the best Norwegian album of the year by 40 prominent critics.
Roy Søbstad (b. 1971) is a music and film reviewer in Fædrelandsvennen. In addition, he works as a designer, illustrator and freelance writer. The book about «Brenn siste brevet» is his first non-fiction publication.
