With over 100,000 copies sold, the album Brakara (1978) was Prima Vera's big breakthrough. Overnight, the second album by Jahn Teigen, Herodes Falsk and Tom Mathisen – accompanied by Jonas Fjeld Band and with songs such as "Det er Norge som er bra", "Gout feber" and "Så lykkelig i Sverige" – became number one on the VG-lista. The big talk was "Arne Belinda", a parody of Erik Bye's "Anna Lovinda". The author chose not to approve the song for the group's debut album. Prima Vera got around it by rewriting the melody, and it became the "jewel" of the follow-up Brakara . The album stands today as a Norwegian humor classic. What drove Prima Vera, how did they work together and what was the recipe for success behind Brakara ?
Øyvind Rønning has been reviewing music in Dagbladet for over thirty years and has laughed a lot at Prima Vera. He has followed the careers of the three members before and after Prima Vera, and their madness has been buzzing in the background like a “naughty” and playful soundtrack next to all the other more “serious” music. Now he has delved into the story surrounding the trio’s “masterpiece”, Brakara.
