ORANGE JEWS – JOIN US (1984)
In the fall and winter of 1984, the two ring foxes Arvid Skancke-Knutsen and Eystein Hopland went into the studio and recorded Join Us. Eystein Hopland came from ExLex and Skogvokterne, and would later become central to Sister Rain - and as a technician and producer for other artists. Arvid Skancke-Knutsen had played in Dynamo Forte and White Lord Jesus. Both later joined Sabella Walk, which participated in several compilation albums. The name is from a poem by two award-winning American poets, Ted Berrigan and Ron Padgett. The music is dark, obscure and occasionally Velvet Underground-inspired rock, which at one time was compared to both Cohen and Iggy Pop (!).
