Sorgens bar was the last in the Ola Uteligger trilogy ( Brølloppet i Kanaan (1985), Herberget Sannheten (1987) and Sorgens Bar (1989). The album was released in 1989 and was on the VG list for a week with 19th place as the best position. In 1985, the Royal Garden hotel opened in Trondheim, and the opening was celebrated on TV. Here Ola Uteligger appeared and performed "Fire fine lænestola". This was the start of what would become three albums. Sorgens bar was a theater production by Trøndelag Teater. Sorgens bar was based on a play by Hans Rotmo with the same title. The production was staged in the Theatercaféen of Trøndelag Teater, but due to the influx of audiences was later transferred to Gamle Scene.
