CIRCUS MAXIMUS – THE 1ST CHAPTER (2005)
Circus Maximus is a Norwegian progressive metal band established in 2000. The band was formed after the band Total Blackout disbanded. This band consisted of brothers Mats and Truls Haugen, guitarist Trond Henriksen, bassist Lyes Abid and eventually Michael Eriksen on vocals. The group was formed around 1993, and was based at Lambertseter Ungdomsklubb until 1998. After two demos, the debut album The 1st Chapter was released in 2005. The music album was produced by the band, recorded in various studios in Norway, and mixed in October 2004 in Denmark at Jailhouse Studios by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Jorn, TNT, Wuthering Heights). Eriksen's vocals are described as similar to vocalists Tony Harnell and Joey Tempest. In 2005, the band played at several festivals and held several concerts in Scandinavia together with, among others, Jorn, Kamelot, Pagan's Mind and Glenn Hughes. In 2005, the band played their first concert in the United States at the ProgPower festival in Atlanta, USA.
