MORTEN JØRGENSEN AND THE ORCA WHALE… - PSYCHEDELIC DEVELOPMENTAL HYDRANT (1990)
Morten Jørgensen and Spekkhoggerne, who followed the Danish boat without touching the vomit that flowed from the rip, usually just Morten Jørgensen and Spekkhoggerne, were a Norwegian rock band that was established in 1988. Morten Jørgensen was first the frontman of the New Wave band Lumbago, which disbanded in 1984. That same year, Jørgensen began reading poetry with accompaniment, including at Rock On The Dock, where he also held the concert's artist appeal. He gradually expanded the lineup from just bass guitar in 1984 to a full lineup in 1988. With former members from The Cut and Liliedugg, among others, Spekkhoggerne released the single Jeg drømmer om en natt with Kaci Kullmann Five on election day, September 11, 1989. The single entered Dagbladet's single list and Norsktoppen (NRK) and sold 1,700 copies. The debut album Psykedelisk utviklingshemmet was released later that year and spent three weeks on Dagbladet's LP list with #35 as the highest position. After recording the album, guitarist Atle Pakusch Gundersen left, Torgeir Vikan took over the guitar, and Ragnhild Sarsten (Bøyen Beng, Lady Moscow) joined on bass. Vikan was later replaced by Hilde Johannessen (Veslefrikk). The band disbanded in 1991.
