MICHAEL KROHN/GEIR BRATLAND – SOARE NOIR (2025)
Michael writes:
"From 2015 to 2020, Geir Bratland and I played a handful of concerts around the country. Geir on piano and I on vocals. Some of the concerts were recorded. This album is an excerpt from two concerts, Røverstaden on April 27, 2019 with technician Ole Espen Kristiansen and Sentralen on March 31, 2020 with technician Anders Siegrist Oliver. The former is in front of the audience at what was once Sardines, where I had many a humid evening in my younger days, the latter a corona concert directed by Christer Falck for an empty hall with a live broadcast with sound and image to Youtube. The songs are taken from my extensive back catalog and arranged for piano by Geir, who also processed the sound afterwards before it was sent to Hugo Alvarstein for mastering. As the observant listener will hear, these versions are not without flaws, but have an atmosphere and expression that makes me think they have a reason to exist nonetheless."
