Description

MEDIUM - DEATH OR BAPTISM (1980)
Medium was a compact, well-informed circle of friends in their early twenties. The 'core' consisted of Thorbjørn Grønning (songwriter, keyboardist, and singer), East German Christina Krug (synthesizer) and Geir Lund (tape effects, technique). The musical compost they drew their nourishment from included German Can and Cluster, American Pere Ubu and Suicide, English Joy Division and Throbbing Gristle (with whom they had personal contact). They got their energy and nihilistic impulses from people like Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols and Ebba Grön. The goal was to develop their own expression, while at the same time striving to gain enough authority and self-confidence to play it. And this had to be done in a total vacuum, secluded from any form of fame or acceptance.
