Description

KIK was formed by Alis and Dr. S in 1994, and was inspired by British hip hop, Gatas Parlament and the Norwegian-language rock wave of the 1980s: Raga Rockers, DumDum Boys, Jokke & Valentinerne and deLillos. Dansken joined soon after, and the guys built a name for themselves in the Norwegian-language hip hop community through a number of concerts and popular songs such as "Andeby City", "Tre musketerer" and "År 2000". The band was a side project for a long time for everyone involved, with Alis also playing bass in both Oslo Fluid and the funk pop band Pimp Image. In 1999, the guys decided to go all in. The debut single "Bare meg" was launched with a tour of 14 of Oslo's high schools in the fall of 1999. While working on the debut album Schwinn DJ Goldfinger joined the band as a replacement for Dr. S, who prioritized his medical education. Bjølsen Hospital was album #2 from KIK, and they won Spellemann for the album the following year.
