Description
KERYX – UNDERWAY (1973)
Keryx was the orchestra of the youth choir Sky Sing in Stavanger, plus the two vocal soloists Åse Birgit Lindeberg and Trygve Hagevold. The choir's orchestras had a tradition of also performing independently of the choir, with their own repertoire. The first band name of the Sky Sing orchestra was St. Georges. The orchestra was led by Georg Gjessen until 1971, when Håkon Berge took over as orchestra leader. Under Berge's leadership, the band developed so much that it got a record deal and then changed its name to Keryx (Greek for messenger). In the autumn of 1973, Berge left to concentrate, among other things, on the music at Rogaland Teater. Keryx never played the repertoire from Underveis live in any context. Eikill took over responsibility the following year together with Eivin One Pedersen, who took over Berge's place as pianist: The repertoire was changed, as was the lineup, among others Jon Dagsland and Nina Askeland took over the singing job. In addition, Erling Forfang, among others, stopped by as a trombonist. (The text is taken from Rogalyd)
