JP WEST – NIGHTCOOL (1985)
Jon Petter Westerlund is the name behind JP West, who by chance got a record deal from someone who didn't even have a record label, who was captivated after hearing a demo played by his sister at a garden party. The first album was lavish and with expensive music videos – released on Danish Power Records (which went bankrupt just a few years later), and the song "Jimmy (Don't Need Me Anymore)" went viral on Norwegian radio. Two years later he released his second album Nightcool, on the small Danish label Skylight records, which was licensed to Polydor Nederland and sold well throughout Europe. The album produced five singles; "I Need You", "New York City", "I Lose Control (It's Automatic)", "Loving You" and a Norwegian version of "Tropical Dream". After many years abroad, he moved back home to Horten and continued as a guitar maker.
