JAN DAHLEN & THE SHOTGUN RIDERS – DIRTY DENIMS AND HUNGRY HEARTS (1983)
Jan Dahlen came from Kristiansund to Oslo as a student in 1974, and already that year contributed as a chorister at Finn Kalvik's The key lies under the carpet. He was active in the environment around Club 7 and in 1981 he started his outlaw country project Jan Dahlen & The Shotgun Riders, consisting of e.g. Lynni Treekrem and Bent Patey. In addition, musicians such as Per Vestaby, Carsten Loly, Hans Marius Stormoen, Ole Henrik Giørtz and Tore Elgarøy have been part of the team over the years. The debut album Dirty Denims And Hungry Hearts contains live recordings from Club 7, and consists of cover songs by Gram Parsons and Doug Sahm, in addition to Dahlen's own English-language songs.
