Rypdal had a breakthrough in 1968 as a pop artist with Terje Mosnes' Norwegian versions of the songs "Romeo og Julie" and "Fru Johnsen", and was the dominant female artist in Norwegian popular music in the 1970s. Rypdal won the Spellemann prize in 1973. Den stille gaten is Inger Lise's 4th album and was released in 1974. It debuted at 19th place on the VG-lista and had 14th place as its highest position. The record is arranged by Pete Knutsen and Terje Rypdal Odyssey.
