HILDE BEATE LIA // KRISTIN BERGLUND - RIB BONE OF MY OWN – NABOK059
Rib Bone of My Own , the first pure blues album by a female musician in Norway, was released by Kristin Berglund in 1999 on Blue Mood Records. On this album, Kristin picked up the thread from the first blues women in the 1920s, and the lyrics were both deeply personal and showed a strong feminist commitment to society. Rib Bone of My Own became a great inspiration for other female musicians. Kristin Berglund (b. 9.9.1953 – d. 13.8. 2006) began as a backing singer in the 1970s, but gradually moved towards the blues genre, where she became the leading performer in Norway. In the book, we will go into more detail about the history surrounding the album, and get to know the musician and songwriter Kristin Berglund.
The book is written by Hilde Beate Lia, the author of the book Crazy Cryin' Blues - close to the women of the blues . Through extensive studies, the author has delved into blues history, and held a number of lectures on the history and lyrics of the female blues pioneers, had series on several radio channels, e.g. in NRK and participated in the Blueasylet. She has also been engaged by the Notodden blues festival to give lectures, text seminars and talks with artists. During this festival, she also made contact with Kristin Berglund.
