HANNE KROGH – UNDER THE SAME SUN (1983)
Under samme sol is the fifth album by Hanne Krogh, released in November 1983. Hanne Krogh states on her website that this was the first album where most of the song material was originally written for her. The opening track "Minner" was a Norwegian version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Memory" from the hit musical Cats which was a full house in London. Hanne was tipped off about this song, and the record company secured the rights for Hanne to release it in Norway. "Når natten faller på" was written and recorded on record in Haugaland by her friend Gunnar Andersen - known from 3 Busserulls. In the Norwegian language and in a great arrangement by Pete Knutsen, Hanne made it her own. Gunnar Andersen also participated in the beautiful duet "Jeg vil aldri glemme deg" which he wrote together with Knutsen and Reidar Brendeland. Other newly written songs came from Svein Gundersen and Gunnar Andersen, "We let time pass us by", Jahn Teigen: "Where are you" and George Keller with "Street Children". The opening theme from the James Bond film Octopussy "All time high" became "Under samme sol" in Arne Bendiksen's translation. The cover photo was taken at Rådhuskaia in Oslo by press photographer Trond Solberg, and as always Ole Vidar Lien was in the producer's chair. Under samme sol was a great sales success for Hanne Krogh. Arne Bendiksen's record company went bankrupt shortly after the album was released, and "Under samme sol" was then released on Sonet.
