FREDDY LINDQUIST – MENU (1970)
In 1970, Freddy Linquist brought musician friends from Club 7 to Arne Bendiksen Studios to record his only solo album. From this environment, he brought vocalist Freddy Dahl from Juniper Greene, keyboardist Geir Wentzel, drummers Leif Jensen and Espen Rud and alto saxophonist "Calle" Neumann. Linquist had been promised that the recording rooms at Bendiksen were available to make a record, as long as they were vacant and not rented out to others. The musicians therefore had to take their time, and Linquist had ample opportunity to work on the sound. On the record, Linquist himself plays guitar, bass, flute and percussion in addition to helping with the vocal performances. The idea was that the cover of Menu should attract attention. It should be something that record buyers would stop at regardless of whether they knew the artist's name or not. It turned out to be a very bad idea, so the record flopped at the time, but has been fully compensated afterwards.
