Description
Lovecloud was Finn Coren 's third album in two years, and was the follow-up to the critically acclaimed and Spellemann-nominated The Blake Project-Spring (1997) and The Blake Project Spring: The Appendix (1998), both of which were Coren 's musical tributes to the English poet, writer and visionary William Blake. Berlingske Tidende in Denmark wrote that “Norwegian Finn Coren is - as Blake himself so often was - unique, genre-defying and, on the whole, consistently unconventional in his use of musical instruments”. Lovecloud is largely Finn Coren 's own work, both in terms of lyrics and melody. This time, the poetry is toned down a bit, and Coren as a lyricist, he gets more freedom. However, Lovecloud is dedicated to William Blake, William Butler Yeats and John Lennon, who are some of Coren 's main sources of inspiration. He includes a song tribute to each of these. ("The Smile", "The Countess Cathleen in Paradise" and "Grow old with me"). Lovecloud partly shows a slightly brighter and more pop-influenced side of Finn Coren than what we were used to hearing until then. This time too he has some of our finest musicians with him. We mention, among others, Anne Marie Almedal, Cikada String Quartet, Nils-Arne Øvergård, Kyrre Sætran, Fredrik Pfefferkorn Sager, Helge Hovland, Stein-Inge Brækhus, Tov Ramstad, Jon-Willy Rydningen, Lasse Hafreager, Geir Sundstøl, Bugge Wesseltoft, Rune Arnesen, Berit Lohne, Jon Øyvind Ness and Baard Slagsvold. The album is produced by Ulf W.Ø.Holand and Finn Coren .
