Description

Trondheim group, started in 1984. Det Glade Vanvidd (DGV) is known for its many cassette releases, as well as the 7-inch "Surfin' Beirut"/"Gjestene" (Knallsyndikatet, 1988). The original line-up consisted of Roger Aasegg (guitar), Harald Erlandsen (drums), Magne Njåstad (bass) and Harald Nissen (vocals). After a couple of years, Erlandsen moved to Argentina, and the drums were taken over by Viggo Mastad, in parallel with Angor Wat. For a short period, Aasegg and Mastad swapped instruments. "Surfin' Beirut" was released with this line-up, before Mastad concentrated fully on what eventually developed into Israelvis. The new guitarist was Oddvar Njåstad, while Aasegg continued as drummer. Musically, it is not easy to place DGV, it was both fast and slow, tough and not least weird. Keywords such as art punk, classic hardcore, speed metal, Residents, chaos, cackles, gibberish, humor and madness are all examples of the press's attempts at explanation. The band chose the cassette as their medium, and released several of the kind: Meat Det Glade Vanvidd (1986), Yalleheim (1986) – recorded live in the Leangen railway tunnel, Det Glade Vanvidd/Syk Kjærlighet Live (1986) and Dilettantenes innotgsmarsj – split with A (Soundtracks) (1988).
