Dagny Norvoll Sandvik (born 1990), known as Dagny, rose to fame with her debut single "Backbeat" and was signed to Republic Records, a label under Universal Music. Rob Stevenson, artist and repertoire manager for Republic, said of her: "... "Backbeat" immediately caught our attention, and after a showcase in "New York" our entire company fell in love with her. We look forward to sharing her vision with the world." She has been nominated for the Spellemannprisen seven times; song of the year for "Backbeat" and newcomer of the year in 2016. Strangers/Lovers was her first full-length, and was declared a genius all over the world.
