Cornelius Jakhelln // Darkthrone – Transilvanian Hunger
In 2024 it will be 30 years since "Transilvanian Hunger" was released, Darkthrone's fourth album and one of the crown jewels of Norwegian black metal. The album takes the listener back to bygone forests and times, with a longing that is just as dizzying and noisy to this day. Cornelius Jakhelln will write a personal, critical essay about his travel companion since 1994: "Transilvanian Hunger", a thing with a turbulent history, an album that has become a small genre in itself.
Cornelius Jakhelln is a writer and musician, with a background as a philosopher. He has published five novels and a number of poetry collections, the most recent of which is "Lyset faller som en skjägge av kjærlighet" (The Light Falls as a Shadow of Love) (2024). Jakhelln has also released more than a dozen albums with the bands Solefald, Sturmgeist and GUT, and the music has often been experimental forms of metal.
