CHRISTIAN EGGEN – UNFOUNDED (1974)
Eggen received his first piano lessons in Drøbak and later in Ås, with Hildegunn Reuter as his teacher. At the age of 11 he performed as a piano soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Karsten Andersen and in 1973 he had his public debut concert in the University Hall in Oslo. He had his first solo performance with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 17. That same year he made a name for himself with his first album release, the jazz album "Ufuge". After studying in Vienna, he began at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 1974, where he had Robert Riefling (piano), Finn Mortensen (composition) and Arvid Fladmoe (conducting) as his teachers. In 1974 he also released his only jazz album, and here he had, among others, Terje Venaas on bass, Helge Hurum on flute and Harald Bergersen on clarinet. Christian describes Ufuge as "a small collection of chamber jazz". The album is hard to find and sells for staggering sums.
