Description
Forest is the title of Bendik Hofseth's 4LP/4CD concept which consists of four albums; Trunks (the jazz album that came out in 2020), Branches (the "pop" album), Roots (the "classical" album) and Leaves which contains the loose threads and oddities that don't fit into the other three. Roots is the album where Bendik shows where he comes from. Small tributes in classical, flowing, ambient and abstract guise. Partner - 40 years in a row - Eivind Aarset, lays the foundation with his delicate guitar playing, and where the award-winning Engegård Quartet takes us on a journey from Schubert and Bach to Coltrane and Lyle Mays, as well as our two Norwegian super drummers Paolo Vinaccia and Jon Christensen. Nigerian Fela Kuti and South African Ray Phiri (Paul Simon) also get their own tribute. Jazz meets classical, meets contemporary music, meets desert blues, meets etc etc
