Frem fra Glemselen is a series of albums with well-known songs. The series is Norway's best-selling album series, featuring Rita Engebretsen and Helge Borglund. Background In 1973, Per Johan Skjærstad traveled around the country to collect songs for a fee to record them on record. It was difficult to get record companies to join the project, but Arve Sigvaldsen in the newly started Talent Produksjon finally signed the project. The first Frem fra Glemselen album came out just before Christmas 1974, and became the first Norwegian LP to sell over 100,000 copies, says Per Johan Skjærstad in the book "Viser på vandring". After this, at least one album was released a year until 1987. NRK has also made two TV programs about the series, "Viser på vandring" which aired in the spring of 1978, and "Frem fra glemselen" which was first broadcast in 1986. In 1999, the Melodiminneklubben in Trondheim began releasing all the Frem fra Glemselen albums on CD – several of the albums are difficult to obtain now, and all are available digitally as of 2008. According to the website of the record company Talent Produksjon, which released the first albums in the series, Frem fra Glemselen has sold over 1.8 million copies.
The Frem fra Glemselen album series never received any honorary awards or Spellemann awards, but the albums sold in large numbers, and were among the few Norwegian albums that could compete with ABBA on the album charts. In 2002, Frem fra Glemselen chap. 20 was released as an anniversary album. Engebretsen and Borglund sang 5 of the songs, while later dance band queen Anne Nørdsti made her album debut here. In 2008, Frem fra Glemselen, chap. 21 was released with four new artists.
