Bendik Hofseth's international career took off when he joined Mike Mainieri's Steps Ahead in the late 80s. He was discovered by the executives at Columbia and released the album IX, which was named one of the best Norwegian albums of all time in the Morgenbladet top 100 poll in 2011. The album was marked by a lot of studio work, tinkering and overdubs, and when album #2 was coming out, Bendik realized that he wanted to create a rawer, more live sound. Amuse Yourself is pop and rock with jazz and art pop elements, interspersed with both blues and Norwegian folk music. With him on the album are Knut Reiersrud, Eivind Aarset, Øystein Sevåg, Reidar Skår and Paolo Vinaccia as regular band members, while Junior Wells, Nils Petter Molvær, Arild Andersen, Jon Christensen, Hallvard T Bjørgum and Susanne Lundeng as guests. The album will also contain bonus tracks.
