3 BUS ROLLS – THE HAPPY MADNESS (1986)
A cheerful singing group from Åkrahavn on Karmøy, formed in 1962 by Karl Magnus Sjøen, Oddvar Andreassen and Sverre Jensen. They took their name from the title of one of the songs they performed; "Tresko og busserull". The trio had annual appearances at Christmas events in Åkrahavn at first, but disbanded when Jensen died. The group started up again in 1975, now with Sjøen, Andreassen and Lasse Pedersen. They participated in the TV program Ferske fjes in 1977, where they performed two self-composed songs. Audun Tylden at Polygram saw the program and offered the group a record deal. The same year saw their debut Suddeli-duttan-dei – a collection of songs with strong elements of both the maritime and the funny. Pedersen left the trio the following year due to a death in the family. His successor was Gunnar Andersen, an experienced revue actor who had already released an LP on his own. Andersen was a prolific songwriter, and thus largely responsible for 3 Busserulls becoming favorites nationwide among an audience that appreciated light tunes with early, apt and sometimes coarse lyrics. Andersen also led the group into more revue-style stage shows with lots of costume changes. The annual revues in his hometown always drew full houses. The musical style gradually changed from sailor's songs on the first albums to dance music on the last. Many of the albums revolved around a theme, such as life along the coast ( Suddeli-duttan-dei , På 'an igjen and Mytteri ), the salty westerner ( Rabbagast ), the oil industry ( Oljefeber ) and Norwegians' drinking habits and double standards ( Piker, vin and 3 Busserulls ), and the group was helped in the studio by the industry's best musicians and producers. Among the musicians are members from Popol Ace, Jonas Fjeld Band, Sambandet and Lava. Most of the material was self-composed, with the exception of some contributions from Ove Thue, Reidar Brendeland (who later also became a member), Morten Lorentzen and the radar pair Monrad Holm Johnsen/Josef G. Larssen. The lineup was stable until 1986, when Andreassen left and was succeeded by Brendeland from Vestlandsfanden.
Det glade vanvidd is a music album by 3 Busserulls, released in 1986. The album spent five weeks on the VG-lista and ended up in 14th place as the best position.
